Atsusacon Review 2014

Journal Entry: Wed Aug 20, 2014, 1:16 AM

Second time over in the coutry of Belgium for an event this year. Atsusacon was the place. Atsusacon was as always small, quiet and roasting due to the intense heat of the sun. The layout was much better to navigate round with the food court being seperate to the dealer hall. Better panels and more activities were an added bonus. Shame there was no ball pit.

SATURDAY

I was asked to be a judge for the second time at Atsusacon. It ran a lot smoother than my previous attempt as a judge. We mingled with the community and acquaintances before taking our places for the competition to start. Everything rolled a long perfectly and not even a technological fault was to be seen. Once the competition was over it was back outside in the baking heat to grab a few shots with Dean Wouters before he departed back home before getting heat stroke. Another photoshoot session happened with NoZLan and the winners of the competition were announced. Talked to a few more people from the community before heading off for some greasy MCdonalds.

SUNDAY

Pretty much arrived the same time as the previous day. Atsusacon isn't a convention to arrive early for as the convention is small and nothing really happened until mid day. I entered my first ever solo act in the competition and was really nervous especially for judging. I decided to enter my favourite Disney character. "Alice in Wonderland," The nerves really kicked in when it was time for my big debut on stage.
The skit didn't quite go to plan, however within a minute the skit was done. A few sips of bubble tea, a small photo session with NoZLan and it was time to announce the Sunday competition winners. With shock and disbelief I won "Best Solo Act," The judges were complimentary of my costume and commented the costume outweighed the act itself. Still in disbelief, but shows I've come along way from where I started from 5 years ago.

Onwards and upwards as they say. I'm now going to challenge myself to different techniques and materials. Hopefully, I can pull off one of my dream costumes. Plans for this year though involves another Alice , but this time it's Alice from Pandora Hearts and a Rainbow Dash gijinka from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic (I just wanted a rainbow coloured wig :3

Stay tuned

Hello and welcome to the page of Combustible Limes.
I am currently in residence around the area of Bristol, UK

Since 2009 my main hobby and interest has been Cosplay. I love bringing characters to life. It's a break away from reality. My first character I cosplayed was Miku Hatsune and have continued to cosplay her from that day forward (I have many other characters too) I love creating and not only do I cosplay, I do a bit of traditional art, baking, jewellery making and many more crafty things.

To keep me active I like to do circus skills. I do poi poi and hula hooping. Better than doing boring exercising, and I'm learning a new skill at the same time.

That's me in a nut shell, please feel free to look around my Deviantart and my Facebook Page "Cyanide Limes" for more in progress shots and news reports.

Unfortunately due to funds I will not be attending. I will be at London Comic Con October and will be attending Birmingham Comic Con in November for the day :) Would be lovely to do all the conventions around the UK though at some point. I know a few friends of mine are going to a convention in Leeds, is that Thought bubble per chance?

That will be thought bubble, it's not official as not listed on the official comic con and cosplay website, i might come to Birmingham and do I have to change my character often as it's expensive to spend money on being someone to become someone else weeks later.

Cosplay can be expensive, however I have recently dived into my cosplay box up in the attic and found stuff I haven't seen for years.
I've been re-making a few pieces that I know haven't stand the test of time and decided to wear them out again.

You don't need a new costume every time a new convention comes on to your agenda. If you love the character I don't see a problem in wearing the costume on several occasions :) It's cheaper and easier. Once you've built a cosplay collection you can swap and change as you please and then add one new one a year or every so often then.

Hey lovely, on mine and my partner's cosplay facebook page :3 I spend most my time there rather than here on Deviantart.
www.facebook.com/cyanidelimes or search Cyanidelimes in the search bar. It will be easier to keep updates and messages all in one place. Thank you for the compliment lovely :) I'm happy they are all done and sorted for Expo.
